CLOSED ALPHA v0.1.48

DuoFall is a falling-block puzzle with two playfields: pieces fall down from the top, and rise up from the bottom - and in between drifts the golden middle line when you play one-sided.

Up top you think downwards. Down below you think upwards.

A few runs in, you start thinking both ways at once.

That click in your head - that is what DuoFall is built for.

Sounds hard? It is, for the first two rounds. Then it clicks. Tested with players aged 18 to 65: brief chaos, then the learning curve shoots up. The tutorial holds your hand, one side first, then both.
DuoFall: DUOCLEAR at night - Milky Way and constellations above the dual playfield

A real sky. Real stars.

Pick your city and DuoFall computes the sky above it: the Milky Way, constellations and planets stand exactly where they stand tonight. And right in the middle, a DUOCLEAR wipes four lines in one strike.

DuoFall: unison bonus at sunset above the dual playfield

Two hands. One moment.

Lock a piece on top and below almost simultaneously and the unison bonus pays out - true two-handed play. And the middle line remembers every one-sided habit.

DuoFall: pressure gold in the corners, the middle line flashes red

Pressure. Warning. Gold.

The middle line is pushed to ▲8 and flashes red - one more one-sided piece and it shifts. Place cleanly under pressure and your pieces turn to gold, counting double when cleared.

This is how DuoFall feels

Three moments from the alpha - clear night, sunset, and the endgame at the edge.

First you. Then your friends. Then the world.

DuoFall is built to prove skill - one rung at a time.

Beat yourself

Race yesterday's you in a ghost duel - same pieces, your own replay as the opponent. The most honest benchmark there is.

Challenge your friends

Share a seed as a challenge, fight live duels with your opponent's field right beside yours, meet in group rooms and tournaments up to 2v2 - whoever falls first gets to spectate.

Prove it to the world

The daily challenge gives everyone the same task, the community stacks lines toward one big goal - and the leaderboard does not lie: the server replays every run before it counts.

What makes the game

The golden line is alive

Play one-sided and it drifts against you. Pull it back with harmonies - clears in alternation, top and bottom.

Couch nights for four

Couch co-op and couch versus: split screen for 2-4 players, co-op on a shared field, hot seat and local tournaments. In versus your clears shift your opponent's middle line.

Pressure makes gold

When building space gets tight, DuoFall rewards steady nerves: cleanly placed pieces turn to gold and count double when cleared.

A sea that knows your weather

The background is alive: waves, wind, rain, snow and time of day can follow the real weather outside your window.

Frequently asked questions

When does DuoFall release?

The Steam page is currently in review at Valve. The plan: Early Access on Steam in autumn 2026, the full version a few months later. If you don't want to miss the moment, sign up for release news above.

How much will it cost?

The alpha is free for testers. Early Access starts at a friendly price that rises moderately for the full version. The exact number isn't set yet.

Which platforms?

Windows, macOS and Linux. The alpha already runs on one of our testers' Steam Deck. Mobile and consoles are on the radar, but only after the PC release.

Haven't I seen something like this before?

There are many falling-block puzzles, and that's fine. What only exists here: two playfields at once, pieces that rise from below, and a middle line that reacts to your imbalance. A few runs in, your head starts thinking in both directions. That feeling is the point.

Can I play against others?

Yes, in several ways: live duels with your opponent's field beside yours, ghost duels against recorded runs (including your own), group rooms, tournaments up to 2v2, and local multiplayer on the couch: 2 to 4 players in split screen co-op or versus.

Do I need to be online?

No. The game asks on first launch whether it may go online. Without consent everything runs fully offline. Going online adds the leaderboard, duels, the daily challenge and the community goal.

What is DuoFall built with?

Godot 4 with C#, plus our own server for the online features. The leaderboard is verified server-side: every run carries its replay and gets re-simulated before it counts.

Closed alpha: a small circle is testing right now. Want in? Apply above - we hand out spots in small waves and then send you your access code.

Windows: launch notes

Unzip, run DuoFall.exe. If SmartScreen appears: "More info" → "Run anyway" (the alpha is not signed yet). The data_… folder must stay next to the EXE.

macOS: launch notes (needed once)

Always launch DuoFall.app — that is the only file you need. (If an older package also contained a DuoFall.command: that one is a terminal launcher, it does not work — just delete it.)

Unzip with Finder, then in Terminal: xattr -cr ~/Downloads/DuoFall.app (adjust the path if needed). Then right-click the app → "Open" → "Open". Required because the alpha is only ad-hoc signed.

If your Mac still says "cannot be opened" (happens on some models, e.g. M2): run codesign --force --deep -s - ~/Downloads/DuoFall.app once (re-signs the app locally - takes 2 seconds), then right-click → "Open" again. After that it starts normally with a double-click.

Linux: launch notes

Unzip, then: chmod +x DuoFall.x86_64 && ./DuoFall.x86_64 - keep the data_… folder next to it.

Alpha note: DuoFall is in active development - it gets better almost daily. Every alpha build expires 60 days after release and reminds you about updates in-game (bottom left, clickable). Online features are opt-in; without consent everything runs offline. Feedback directly in-game: news box → 📨 Contact & feedback. Thanks for testing!
